The grandson of Arthur Beetson has signed a three year deal with the Roosters – the club where the popular Immortal shone as both captain and coach some 50 years ago.
Billy Beetson is only 15 but has shown so much potential in the Roosters’ junior league that the club has locked him in until the end of 2027.
Beetson is training with the Roosters’ Harold Matts team – alongside players older than him – and is already holding his own.

“To say he is happy is an understatement and as for the family, we will support him until the end of the earth as he follows his dreams.
“I know dad would have been especially proud to see his grandson wearing the Roosters colours.”

Billy is a rising backrower.
Regarded as the best forward in his era, Beetson hailed from Redcliffe and moved to Sydney in the 1960s, joining Balmain – but it was at the Tricolours where he came of age, captaining the club to consecutive grand final wins in 1974 and 1975.
He then went on to coach the Roosters with considerable success.
