The Toronto Blue Jays have signed reliever Jacob Barnes to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training, the team announced Monday.
Barnes spent the 2024 season with the Washington Nationals, making 63 appearances recording a 4.36 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP, a 7.2 per cent walk rate and a 19.9 per cent strikeout rate.
The 34-year-old previously played for the Blue Jays back in 2021, where he made 10 appearances, recording a 6.30 ERA in 10 innings.
The St. Petersburg, Fla., native has 328 career MLB appearances across nine seasons, posting a 4.68 ERA in 328.2 innings with a 9.2 per cent walk rate, and a 22.2 per cent strikeout rate with the Milwaukee Brewers, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels, New York Mets, Blue Jays, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, and Nationals.
